John Forbes, Principal, Business Development
John Forbes has executive leadership experience in Fortune 50, start-up, and global non-profit organizations primarily in the health care industry. Prior to joining the Balanced Growth team he served as the CEO or COO of the American Academy of Periodontology, the American Academy of Pediatrics and a unit of the American Red Cross’ Biomedical Services. His professional experience includes leadership roles with Northfield Laboratories, Baxter International, and Procter and Gamble.
John’s expertise includes: business development, governance, strategic planning, organizational design and development, product and program management, financial management, leadership development and international relations. He has extensive experience working with Boards of Directors and serving as a board member for several organizations.
Currently, John leads the American Venous Forum, a medical specialty organization and a Balanced Growth client, serving as its Executive Director. He serves on the Board of Directors of Kalocyte, a biotechnology start-up developing a novel hemoglobin-based oxygen carrier.
John interfaced with the Balanced Growth team as a client from 2008 to 2015. His insights from the client perspective and understanding of how consulting services can add value to an organization are key to his consultative and advisory role.
John has his MBA from Loyola University, Chicago, Illinois where he majored in international business and marketing. His undergraduate degree is from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio where he majored in economics and political science.

Amy is an effective leader with consulting and management experience in various industries and across diverse environments. She has a successful record of building strong business relationships with clients and staff members at all levels. Prior to joining Balanced Growth, Amy managed a team of over 200 at peak season as Contact Center Director and Training Manager at FTD.COM. Previous to that, Amy was a Senior Consultant at Keane Consulting Group (formerly Bricker & Associates). Key clients at Keane include: Aon, USG and Comdisco.
As a key member of the Balanced Growth team, Amy successfully worked with the leadership of the American Academy of Periodontology to develop an innovation strategy designed to accelerate top line growth. Working with the American Enterprise Group, Amy helped develop and implement the operational strategy and business architecture project. At Balanced Growth, Amy led the Voice of the Customer project and led the redesign of the organization’s web site.
Amy's expertise includes contact center operations, customer service, training, business process design, implementation leadership, organizational development and operations strategy. She is adept at managing highly complex projects and has the unique capability of working seamlessly within large and highly diverse organizations as a trusted consultant and business advisor.
Amy graduated with Highest Honors and a Bronze Tablet Scholar with a degree in Business Administration and Marketing from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.

Vicki’s distinguished career includes more than 20 years of service both as an internal and external consultant to numerous not-for-profit, professional association, government, and corporate clients. Vicki consults with clients to transform current operations while also innovating and implementing new capabilities to create the future environment. She collaborates with clients to maintain a laser focus on execution to ensure ROI is achieved.

Leslie is the newest member of the Balanced Growth team, bringing with her years of experience as an effective communicator and project manager. She has impeccable organization abilities and is deadline driven with attention to details. Drawing on her professional and volunteer experience, she is excited to connect, communicate and create realistic timelines for projects. Leslie has been working in the world of IT as a project manager consultant, spearheading commercial real estate owners leveraging technology to create new revenue streams. Previous company’s and clients include: FedEx/Kinko’s, Medtronic, Granite Technologies, Donna Baldwin Talent and Sinnott Film Productions filling a variety of roles from web designer, print agent, multimedia productions to professional home organization.
Leslie graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Communications from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois. She has spent hours volunteering for various community programs including currently running the Music Boosters at a prestigious 5A high school, helping with fundraising, event planning, process flow and supporting over 200 students in musical programs.
Jody’s career includes more than 15 years of service in business-side leadership as well as consultation to numerous corporate clients. Jody works with clients to align operations with strategic objectives and customer priorities. She facilitates corporate program implementation with a focus on efficient project management and alignment across business areas.
Jody’s experience with fellow Balanced Growth consultants stretches back to 1998. Her expertise includes business process design, business strategy, IT development, product and services development, and marketing.

Prior to becoming a business consultant, Jody was a key member of the engineering team of a regional waste management service provider in the Midwest, leading siting efforts for four landfill-gas-to energy plants, managing a regional composting facility, and coordinating regulatory compliance efforts for recycling, landfill and hauling operations.
Jody holds a Master of Business Administration degree with high distinction from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI, and graduated with high honor with a Bachelor of Science in Resource Development from Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI.
Peggy is an enthusiastic, results-driven manager and motivator with expertise in public relations, marketing and communications, advertising, business development and client relations in not-for-profit and for-profit businesses.
With Balanced Growth, Peggy is focused on Business Development in the St. Louis region. She is familiar with major corporations and the vital links they provide to the community at large and to non-profit organizations, and is able to forge bonds between various sectors of the community.
Peggy’s success stems from her proven history of delivering results that build confidence and trust. She is focused on building collaborative partnerships, finding value for all parties. Most recently, she served as Development Director, Corporations and Foundations for 10 years at Maryville University in St. Louis, Missouri. Previously, Peggy served as Director of Marketing for American Red Cross Blood Services, Missouri-Illinois Blood Services Region. Peggy also served on the Board of Director for Gateway to Hope, as well as on various Advisory Councils for Maryville University, including the Advisory Council for Women and Leadership.
